The Windrush Family Games 22nd June 2019 is a celebration of those pioneering post war Caribbeans that arrived at Tilbury docks on 22 June 1948 .
The Windrush generation were invited by Britain to assist with the reconstruction of the effects of World War II
We honour and remember the Windrush generation that came to Britain with performances/displays of steel pan, quadrille, reggae salsa, a live band, fun and games you can participate in.
Windrush signifies those that helped to shape British social, cultural and political life. Our aim for the day is use the energy of Windrush to inform and inspire people about this tremendous legacy of Windrush pioneers.
An important part of the Windrush Family Games is for our supporting secondary school children to share, celebrate and appreciate the sacrifice and contributions of the Windrush Pioneers.
