We’re Mind, the mental health charity.
Our Networks and Communities Department works alongside Mind’s extensive networks across England and Wales. We work in partnership with the network of 165 independent local Mind charities which provides services and support to over a quarter of a million people across England and Wales every year. The local roots, innovation and passion of more than 10,000 staff, trustees and volunteers ensure our network has a long-lasting impact on people’s lives, and their communities.
We are also a beacon of innovation and excellence for the community leadership and engagement of anyone with a mental health problem. Our work includes part of the ground-breaking Time to Change campaign to fight stigma and discrimination.
As the Equality Improvement Officer you will be responsible for projects that develop the capacity of racialised and other marginalised groups to support their mental health.
This will involve developing partnerships with community-based organisations, generating targeted resources, engagement activities and local networks that increase mental health resilience amongst targeted groups. You will develop similar initiatives with mental heath service providers, driving improvements in how they cater to the mental heath needs of these groups.
You will have a proven track record of building and maintaining productive working relationships with racialised and other marginalised groups, and organisations representing their interests. You will also have demonstrable project management skills and a robust understanding of good practice in the delivery of mental health related services to these groups.
Closing date: 12 noon, 9 July 2012
