TEACHER'S MURDER LEAVES QUESTIONS Hot

There are still unanswered questions surrounding the horrific murder of 33-year-old primary-school teacher Paula Gordon in Bamboo district, St Catherine, last Saturday night.

The usually quiet community was alarmed when news began to circulate that there was a hunt on for Gordon after family members could not locate her, and bloodstains were spotted on a property in Zion Hill where she lived.

Reports are that Gordon's body was found after a vigilant search by family and members of the community who followed the blood trail which led them to a river some 50 metres from her home.

When THE STAR contacted the Glengoffe Police Station, our sources said that Gordon's body was found with a major wound to the back of her head and further injuries to the body and face.

There is still no motive established for the killing and no suspect(s) have been held. Reports also indicate that cash and documents belonging to Gordon were missing.

The officer with whom THE STAR spoke, however, pointed out that an intense investigation is ongoing and steps will be taken to counsel members of Gordon's family and the wider community at the next citizens' association meeting in the district.

When contacted, the acting principal at Sergeantville Primary where Gordon worked said she had been a teacher for the past three years. She said that Gordon was a Grade-two teacher.

The obviously shaken acting principal disclosed, "Gordon is a very nice girl. It's hard to see her go like that. Both students and teachers alike are in need of counselling during this time."

She went on to declare that, "Gordon had a passion for the younger kids and she will be sadly missed."

The school is on Easter break, however, the acting principal told THE STAR that she had spoken briefly with the education officer at the education ministry, and is in the process of submitting a report to the relevant heads for assistance.
