Help lead England’s most ambitious movement to end mental health discrimination

Time to Change is a dynamic programme led by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, and funded by the Department of Health and Comic Relief, to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.

Lived Experience Advisor from a Black Minority Ethnic community

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join the Time to Change Senior Management Group as a Lived Experience Advisor

All of our work is driven by the experiences of people with mental health problems. The appointed Advisor will bring their own perspective and experience to the management and governance of the programme. As one of two Lived Experience Advisors, you will need personal experience of mental health problems and to have actively addressed mental health discrimination and stigma. To represent a diverse range of experiences, the position will be filled by an applicant from a Black Minority Ethnic (BME) community.
The appointed Advisor will be expected to attend quarterly meetings in London, and prepare for the meetings by reading papers. This time will be paid for (£200 per meeting) and travel and subsistence will be reimbursed within Mind’s expenses policy.
To apply you will need to complete an application and set out how you meet as many of the skills and experiences as possible required for this role (as set out in the Person Specification) which include:

  • Decision making at a strategic level
  • Strategic planning
  • General management skill
  • Experience of working with Black and Minority Ethnic communities
  • Campaigning
  • Familiarity with budget management
  • Anti-stigma research and understanding impact data
  • Experience of advisory and/or management groups
