Charity Concert Organisers Put Out Call for Bedfordshire’s Finest





British Red Cross and SOS Vocal Training are looking for choirs in Bedfordshire to take part in a fundraising concert to take place this October in Luton.



Following the success of the ‘Songs for Haiti’ concert back In February 2010, Christian vocal coach Dionne Shand of SOS Vocal Training has joined forces with the British Red Cross again to stage a second community concert which aims to raise much needed funds for the unfolding international crisis in Pakistan as well as grass root causes.





With the last concert raising nearly £1500 pounds towards the Red Cross Haiti appeal and with nearly 500 people in attendance the event proved a resounding success, despite it being put together in less than three weeks. The concert provided valuable funds that were used to buy emergency essentials for the people of Haiti and in light of the current natural disaster in Pakistan the upcoming concert will prove timely in helping those who are suffering the of effects disease and displacement by the floods.





Dionne, who runs vocal workshops for church choirs in the UK and is the main organiser of the concert said: “For this concert we really want to get more acts involved. We are looking for choirs, groups, musicians and dance acts who would be willing to give up a bit of free time to take part and help us raise valuable funds. Bedfordshire is bursting with great and diverse musical acts so we hope we get a great response to our appeal.



She adds: “We would also like to invite local churches and businesses in Bedfordshire to get in touch if they would like to help in any way. Whatever they can offer to support and help us put the concert together, from printing to sponsorship, we would be grateful to hear from them.”



The concert will take place on the 23rd of October and will be held St Marys Church in Central Luton.

Acts to be confirmed nearer the date. Tickets will be available in September.

SOS Vocal Training is a new voice coaching business based in Luton and owned by Dionne Shand, who aims is to teach healthy vocal skills to struggling singers who suffer with painful vocals or want to build confidence. SOS also uses the medium of singing to provide training in the workplace such as Team building and Leadership skills. Dionne has been training singers in church for over 10 years and is a member of the British Voice Association and Local Chamber.
