TEST Beauty Within Me is founded on the growing trend and consumer demand for natural and alternative health & beauty. This event is an opportunity to hear from experts and explore a range of natural products for hair, skin, food, nutrition, exercise and spirituality; everything that contributes to our enhanced wellbeing.
The two-day seminar event will be held on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th 2012 at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) located in central London.
Saturday 25th August
The event features Clare Eluka, award winning educator and formulator who will discuss the benefits of natural skincare and living an allergy free lifestyle. Shirley McDonald, a respected senior Trichologist will take a session on ‘Healthy Natural Hair care for Afro textured Hair’. The day will also include a panel discussion on ‘The benefits of natural products’ featuring Sonia Evelyn, CEO and founder of the FRO her range, one of the first black UK brands to go into Boots and Ronke Ige, founder of Emi & Ben natural skin care company, whose handmade unrefined body butters enjoy celebrity fans including TV presenters Myleene Klass and Angellica Bell. Andrea Lawrence, creator of Toulou Organics Skincare and Sisterlocks consultants Melissa Blake and Huguette Lawson will conduct the Caring for Your Child’s Hair and Skin Naturally workshop. The event closes with Angela Tella, the award-winning author, dietician and lifestyle expert as a key speaker on the topic of Healthy Cultural Diets.
Sunday 26th August
Patricia Ferguson, Medical Herbalist, owner of Green Leaves Herbal Health and an expert for Holland & Barrett's Healthy Magazine will be joining BWM on Sunday 26 August on the panel, 'Are you empowered to take ownership of your health’. The day starts with the internationally renowned Founder of Afrikan Yoga Pablo Imani delivering a yogic well-being workshop, followed by a presentation and panel discussion called 'Is our Lifestyle making us lose our minds?' that includes Dr David Ndegwa, a specialist in black and ethnic minority mental health. The morning includes a session entitled ‘Are you empowered to take ownership of your health?’ with keynote speaker Dr. Kem Thompson, a GP and owner of The Healthy Lifestyle Clinic who is also a breast cancer survivor; followed by 'Are you eating well or eating yourself sick?’ with Matanah - a Holistic Health Practitioner and owner of the Spirited Palace Healing Centre & Vegan Caribbean Eatery. The day closes with a workshop called ‘My personal trainer helped me save my life’ led by Bella-Marie Louis, Personal Trainer and Founder of the FitLife program who has successfully trained people such as Tameka Empson and Robbie Gee on their journey to fitter life.
