THE police are expected to charge Wayne Whyte, the accused in the shooting of pregnant broadcaster Jody-Ann Gray, with shooting with intent.

Whyte, a fellow broadcaster who is said to be the father of Gray’s unborn child, was taken into custody along with two other men shortly after the shooting last Wednesday night.

Police reports were that Gray drove up to her home in Cedar Grove, St Catherine about 9:55 pm.

As she was about to leave her motor car, she was pounced upon by a man who shot her once in the face and twice in the shoulder, police said.

The man entered a motorcar with two other men and the three were subsequently held in the car, which was bearing fake registration plates, and which was registered to Whyte and a woman who shared his last name, police said.

Gray remains in hospital after undergoing surgery to remove a bullet that was lodged in her throat.
