Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine woman was the victim of theft while attending a church service in Spanish Town.

The Star was informed that the woman was part of the congregation on Thursday.

She placed her purse containing money and a Samsung cellular phone on a bench in the church.

During the fiery midday church service, which had members singing and worshiping, the woman realised that something was wrong, as she did not see her belongings.

It is said that she started to search for it and was told by a church member that a man was seen leaving with the items.

The church member is said to have explained to the disgruntled woman that she had asked the man "How you a leave so quickly" while he descended the stairs of the church.

According to the shocked church sister, she had always felt that the church was the safest place to be.

She said that the money in her purse was to pay bills which she will now have to find again.

Meanwhile, the disappointed woman made no report to the police as she says that she is leaving everything to the Lord.
