PORT ANTONIO, Portland — Two brothers who are charged for illegal procession of firearm and ammunition, have been offered bail at the sum of $200,000 and $300,000 respectively when they appeared in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate's Court today.
The two brothers, identified as Demar and Orlando Powell, are from Clarendon and Kingston. They were visiting with their mother at Windsor Castle last Thursday when they had a dispute and the police were called. The police searched the house and found the homemade handgun and a 12 gauge cartridge in a sofa and the brothers were held and charged.
Demar Powell, 18, was offered bail in the sum of $200,000 with one or two sureties and was ordered to report to the May pen police on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm while his brother Orando ,21, of a Kingston address was offered $300,000 bail and ordered to report to the Constant Spring police on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm with one or two sureties.
The gun is to be sent for ballistic testing as the Buff Bay police continue their investigations.
The brothers are to return to court on May 8. They are represented by attorney Carl McDonald.
