GEORGE Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin has been charged with second-degree murder in the 17-year-old's death.
He is being held without bail.
Zimmerman turned himself in and is in police custody in Florida.
He reportedly left the state of Florida, but returned when he learned he would be charged. Zimmerman will now be transferred to the Seminole County Jail, Corey said.
He claimed he shot Martin in self defense on February 26 in Sanford, Florida. The incidents drew the ire of the black community and sparked demonstrations across the US.
