Pope Shenouda III, the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark diocese offered congratulations to the people on the first anniversary of the revolution.

He said in a sermon Wednesday 25/1/2012 which was carried by TV channels that the January revolution is one of the greatest events in the history of Egypt.

He said the revolution was peaceful and is hoped to continue to be peaceful.

He expressed hope that the revolution would help restore stability and fulfill the ambitions of the people.

He said national unity among Moslems and Christians will remain strong and deeply rooted.
