A GANG shot an unarmed driver dead when they robbed a drug dealer for £250 of cannabis, a court heard. Decorator Matthew Smith, 21, agreed to drive friend Jermaine Jameson to a secluded car park at the junction of Ellison Road and Colmer Road, Streatham, on January 9 to sell the drugs.
Minutes after arriving they were attacked by Daniel Springer,21 Jason Campbell, 23, and Omar Parchment, 24, who ordered them to hand over the cannabis at gun-point, it is claimed.
Fired twice
When Mr Smith tried to drive off, Campbell allegedly put his pistol in the car window and fired twice. Prosecutor Brendan Finucane said: "Mr Smith, who was in the driving seat, attempted to drive off and as he did so Campbell ran up to the car, reached into the window and fired two shots at close range at Mark Smith. "He continued to drive a few yards before opening the driver's door and collapsing on the grass verge."
As he lay dying on the ground the three men robbed two other passengers in the VW Golf before wiping their fingerprints off the bonnet, it is claimed.
Springer,Campbell and Parchment were identified by a friend who was at the scene but played no part in the robbery,it was claimed.
All three made no comment when they were arrested.
Springer,of Glennie Road, Streatham; Campbell, of Northcote Road, Selhurst; and Parchment, of Station Road, South Norwood, all deny murder and three charges of robbery.
The trial continues.
