To look at todays armed forces you would never guess that
in the last 3 hundred years there has been a continuous black Presence
involved in defending these islands and her interests.
Black
involvement in The American War of Independence
Here in this engraving by C.W Sharpe, we can see a black
man spotting for a sharp shooter at the death of Admiral
Lord Nelson.
Here we see Chelsea pensioners recieving the news of the
Victory at Waterloo, two of them are Black.
Colonial Troops at Alexandra
Palace in 1902
This Photograph was taken in 1917, showing that Indian troops
were fighting for Britain in the First World War, contrary to common belief.
