In this the centenary year of the Azusa Street Revival, which ushered in the modern era of Pentecostalism and the Charismatic Movement, the attached paper calls for Pentecostals to lay aside the concept of Glossolalia, Speaking in Tongues, as the 'Initial Evidence' of Holy Spirit baptism (viewing that gift as one among many that the Holy Spirit gives), returning instead to their true roots of cross-cultural and cross-racial love and unity as the real sign of Baptism in the Holy Spirit. |
