The family of shot teenager Nathan Williams from Nottingham want his death to convince people to stop carrying guns. More than 350 friends and family of Nathan attended his funeral yesterday. Reading a statement from Nathan's family, Nottingham South MP Alan Simpson said: "People who carry guns on the streets carry them for one reason and one reason only - to use them. We all have to tell those people that it is not right to carry a gun and to put them down for good."

The NUS Black Students' Campaign Winter Conference is open to all students of African, Asian, Caribbean and Arab heritage. The conference gives an excellent opportunity for Black students to meet, network and come to training on relevant issues for the Black communities. The conference will provide an opportunity for discussion and debate on key issues of concern to Black students in Britain today. There will also be workshops on a range of topics from clubs and societies training to running effective anti-racist campaigns. It is also a chance to meet the NUS Black Students' Officer and Committee, providing a space to find out more about the Campaign. |

THE father of a factory worker stabbed near his home spoke out today as police probed links between the attack and a fatal shooting. Mohammed Fazal said his son Kizar Hussain was knifed yards from his home in Frances Road, Lozells, as he tried to help the victim of an an earlier stabbing. |
