Man charged with the murder of Emmanuel Print E-mail

A man was arrested in South Norwood on Saturday on suspicion of murdering 19-year-old Emmanuel Odunewu outside Lewisham police station. Mr Odunewu, from Lewisham, was stabbed last Tuesday and died two days later at Lewisham Hospital. The incident is believed to have happened near a bus stop in Lewisham High Street during the afternoon. Police were alerted when the victim arrived at hospital. Jordan Mayers, 19, of Birch Grove, Lee, was due to appear at Greenwich Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with murder.

A report showing how London boroughs are working to eradicate child poverty has been published by London Councils today (Thursday). The report highlights a range of measures delivered by London's boroughs that have been successful in reducing child poverty. These include schemes to help parents into jobs they can do while caring for their children and that pay well enough so that the cost of childcare does not absorb large amounts of the family's income.

Armed betting shop gang jailed for two-month spree Print E-mail

A GANG of armed robbers who netted more than £26,000 and stuffed the cash under a sofa were jailed for a total of 55 years on Monday. The four men terrorised betting shop staff into handing over cash in nine daylight attacks across South-east London. Their two-month spree was halted when police swooped following a "brazen" £25,000 hold-up of a Post Office cash delivery van.
