A Man who brought a racial discrimination case against a Bristol organisation championing ethnic minority interests has had his claim thrown out.Somalian- born Daud Farah, 39, of St Jude's, claimed that conditions while working for Taharka - then run by Bristol North Primary Care Trust - led him to depression and his resignation last year.

He told an industrial tribunal in Bristol that he was "tortured" by his manager Saleem Gazdar.

The organisation denied the allegations and claimed Mr Farah was using "fictitious" claims to cover his own professional failings.

The tribunal heard Farah was renowned for claiming he was a victim of discrimination although colleagues heard him complain about "those white people".

He made two claims for racial discrimination, one for holiday pay and another for constructive dismissal. Both were rejected.

Tribunal chairwoman Olga Harper said: "You describe in your resignation letter a rewarding employment. This does not link with your claims, Mr Farah."

Mr Farah began working for Taharka - which aims to promote health and housing for black residents in Bristol - in 2003 but claims he only became a victim of racial harassment after the firm was taken over by the PCT last year.

After the tribunal concluded, Deborah Evans, chief executive of Bristol PCT, which has replaced Bristol North PCT after a merger, said: "As a PCT we are committed to eliminating discrimination and providing equal opportunities."
