International Women's Day (IWD), Brighton and Hove, is a non-profit organisation working to celebrate and support the diversity and achievements of women, through the arts, workshops, talks, networking, debate, and participating projects and organisations. Exhibition : Request for submissions
Celebrated annually since 1908, and now in more than 80 countries, IWD is an opportunity for expression, dialogue and movement for change about the social, cultural, economic and political issues that concern women today.
We would like to hear from women / young women across Sussex, by inviting creative responses to the following:
How does it feel to be a woman in 2006/07 - what is your story, and what would you really like to say?
Your work will form part of an exhibition focusing on female identity, values, hopes, observations and stories, during (and beyond) our next women only event in March 2007. The exhibition is open to all women / young women, from all aspects / sectors of the community, be they living, working, or have strong personal connections in Sussex.
We are completely open to how you choose to interpret our question, but ask that submissions meet the following criteria:
Film (PAL dvd), sound (cd), digital (jpeg) and text:
Please send work with contact details, written statement, and postage costs if you wish the work to be returned.
2D and 3D:
Please send jpegs or prints of your work with dimensions, materials, weight and display method, and a written statement.
Deadline: 30 January 2007
