Anthony WalkerTHOUSANDS of specially-made wristbands will be sold at this Sunday's (4 Sept 05) anti-racism festival in memory of murdered teenager Anthony Walker.

A batch of 5,000 are being shipped from China today and are expected to raise £10,000 for the Anthony Walker memorial fund.

They will be inscribed with the message In loving memory of Anthony Walker 1987-2005, with the reverse featuring the words of his mother Gee: "Don't let my son's death be in vain."

The idea is the brainchild of some of Anthony's former schoolfriends who discussed the idea with the Walker family at a basketball festival in his memory.

Members of the 15 local acts performing in Princes Park, Toxteth, will also wear the wristbands in a public show of unity.

The bands will be on sale at a stall for £2.50.

Organiser Gary Jones said: "Hopefully, they will remind people how important it is to get on with life and enjoy it like Anthony did."
