Looking for Caribbeans to assist with research project on Caribbeans' contribution to their (or their parents) Home Countries.
Hello, I am looking for immigrants from the Caribbean - first, second, third, fourth (?) generation Eastern Caribbeans (UK-born is, and has always been, more than welcome). I am a student at Birkbeck College , University of London , undertaking a Masters degree course in Development Studies. As part of my course, I am required to write a 12,000 word dissertation and I have chosen the topic: “Trends in UK-based Transnational Migrants’ Contribution to their Home Countries: A Case Study of the Eastern Caribbean ”.
My reason for choosing this topic is to discover the ways in which we, as Eastern Caribbeans , are contributing (if we are) to our (or our parents’) home countries and how the Eastern Caribbean is benefiting from our contributions. I will also consider how the different generations contribute and would be particularly interested in reaching senior citizens.
As part of my research, I am looking to contact fellow Eastern Caribbeans from the following countries: Anguilla , Antigua , St. Kitts and Nevis , Montserrat , Dominica , St. Lucia , St. Vincent , Grenadians, Barbados , Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Jamaica who would be willing to complete the attached questionnaire. All respondents' details will be kept confidential and anonymous. Their responses will be referred to only in general terms and will be mostly grouped with others who provided the same or similar answer. It will, therefore, not be possible to distinguish respondents’ identities. On completion of my Masters degree all copies of questionnaires will be destroyed and details will not be reused.
I would appreciate it if you would complete a questionnaire and distribute it among your Eastern Caribbean contacts in the UK and ask them to complete it and email it to me ASAP. For a copy of the questionnaire, please email me at
