In 1981, Vouch (Voluntary Organisation for the Upliftment of Children) was established when two children's organisations, the Child Welfare Association and the Jamaica Children's Service Society, merged to form a single entity. The main objective of the charity was to raise funds to help Jamaica in its pioneering work in child welfare and development. In 1991, the organisation gained charitable status and while the main commitment was remained targeted on Jamaica, its remit was extended to include provision for needy children in the UK.

The 25th anniversary lunch will be celebrated on the 24th September 2006 at Addington Place, Gravel Hill, Addington Village, Surrey, CR0 5BB in an afternoon of entertainment, fun, music and fantastic raffles.

Vouch is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-governmental organisation, which aims at providing for the total needs of children up to 12 years of age, including the welfare of the family, especially mothers.

The anniversary lunch is in fact a fundraising event which is supported by the High Commissioner for Jamaica and Councillor Victoria Morse. Proceeds from the event will aid in the repair of the Trauma Unit at VOUCH Jamaica which was damaged by Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis. The unit is used to provide trauma management and counselling for children traumatised by violence.

Tickets for the event are £45 for adults, £15 for children and free for children under 5. Contact Mrs Jane Hooley on 020 8964 0047 for more information
