On October 9th 2005 The Reggae Boyz are back in town to take on the Qantas Socceroos at their adopted home, Fulham’s Craven Cottage.The Reggae Boyz arrive fresh from an excellent showing at the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup where they were knocked out at the quarter final stage by eventual winners and leaders of their World Cup qualifying group, the USA. They face a confident Qantas Socceroos side desperate to repeat their 2-1 victory the last time the sides met in With the Socceroos preparing to face South American opposition in a November showdown for a World Cup 2006 place, this match is a dress rehearsal for one of the most important games in their history. A host of English based players from both sides will lend the match plenty of local interest and the atmosphere inside Craven Cottage, as with all the Socceroos’ previous internationals, is certain to be electric on the day.
London is a city synonymous with exciting high, quality football but the Socceroos have certainly added to the excitement and interest levels during their tenure at Craven Cottage and this match, against everyone’s favourite international team, will ensure that interest in international football goes from strength to strength.
