Raise your voice against guns

Have you had a bad experience with guns? Do you think that governments should do more to control the arms trade? If so, Oxfam is looking for people to support their Control Arms campaign by sharing their stories of gun violence. The Control Arms campaign is calling on all governments to introduce an international arms trade treaty,and we need personal accounts from people whose lives have been affected by guns to help us to increase the pressure.

Armed violence is out of control, with guns killing 1000 people every day. Currently loopholes in international arms laws are too easily exploited, allowing arms to fuel conflicts, civil rights abuses and civilian deaths. We urgently need an international treaty that will make guns and other small weapons much harder to acquire. In only three weeks' time, the UN
will be meeting to discuss this issue. You can support our campaign by raising your voice against guns and sharing your story.

Oxfam campaigner Asha Brooks said:

"Every day, 1000 people die unnecessarily because it's too easy and too cheap to get hold of guns and other weapons. We want the public to share their stories of gun violence, and put pressure on the UK government to push for tighter controls on the arms trade at the UN. "Ordinary people can help Oxfam to bring in much tougher controls on this deadly global trade.
