Press Release by the “National Society for Children and Family Contact”. (NSCFC) in response to the following program to be shown on BBC London. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;jsessionid=S0JGJAM2SRRUDQFIQMGSFGGAVCBQWIV0?xml=/news/2005/03/07/nphil07.xml And the accompanying article by The National Union of Teachers http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/09/nschool09.xml The latest views as expressed by Trevor Phillips, the chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality can only be seen as potentially racially divisive, ill advised and lacking in understanding. The same can be said of The National Union of Teachers."A tough new strategy Mr Phillips advocates would compel black fathers to be responsible fathers," he added. "If they can't be bothered to turn up for parents' evening, should they expect automatic access to their sons?" That there is a direct and undeniable correlation between lack of family role models from the parental side of a child’s life and rise in anti-social behaviour and youth killing of this there can be no doubt but question must be raised. When, the NSCFC asks is this government going to wake up to the reality that their current policy re lack of parity in family law has been by far the greatest contributing factor to the break down of law and order in our youth. The current culture has been brought about by in large by the following and not because of errant and feckless fathers as stated by David Cameron leader of the Conservative party of late. Breakdown in Society and family life is that of the Prime Minister and his parties own making, hence if he, Gordon Brown or John Reid does not address this reality neither they nor anyone else in the Labour Party will be fit for office. Fact, since 1997 when Labour came to office well over 300,000 children have needlessly lost contact with their fathers due to the unjust family court system which favours mothers and denies children and fathers the Right to family life as should be so in accordance with Human Rights Act article 8 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Sadly due to PM policy and ideology re family law 100 children per day loose contact and over one million grandparents like all grandparents have no legal presumption to see their grandchildren, indeed all the paternal side of the child’s family is removed after separation or divorce by judges who put the interest of mothers before the interest of the children. Result being that the innocent children involved have lost out on the very role models they need and are entitled to. So now we have a generation of children striped of their right to be nourished and cherished by the paternal side of their family in their formative years hence its no wonder therefore that we now see a rise in dysfunctional and anti social children, hence give Human Rights to grandparents give Human Rights to the paternal side of a child’s family only then will we have any chance of reversing this downward spiral in our youth! Suffice to say this government has been the main driving force behind the destruction of the traditional family this to the detriment of the very fabric of society itself. Of the people for the people is no longer a banner labour can hold up with pride. We for our part will continue to highlight the governments destructive policy which undermines the marriage based family, fact being that according to UNICEF the traditional family unit is by far the most stable environment for children to grow up in. Of The National Union of Teachers we would ask this, your teachers have the facts they have the stats they are well aware of just how many of their pupils come from one parent families indeed many have told us that more often than not their class’s are outnumbered by such children, so rather than make it an issue targeting fathers why not as academics vocalize the truth based on fact, children denied family input are more likely than not to turn to gangs in the search for a sense of belonging and in so doing are far more likely to engage in anti-social behaviour , anti-social behaviour in itself is the effect, denied contact with loved ones is by far the cause and its this latter one we must all tackle, voice this concern to the powers that be and both Trevor Phillips and the NUT will be giving the children in their charge the greatest gift of all. Helpline at National rate also available 24/7. This to include support and domestic violence helpline for men on 0870 794 0075 or www.nscfc.com Mike Ellis Chairman: “National Society for Children and Family Contact”.
