Force aims to attract ethnic groups |

 A charity is backing a bid to get more people from ethnic communities into the Warwickshire police force. Minorities of Europe (MoE), in Walsgrave Road, Stoke, Coventry, is committed to improving relations between people from different cultures, and has been approached by the force to help recruit more people from ethnic backgrounds. Henry Squire, a project manager for MoE, said: "Warwickshire Police force is trying to work with the wider community and I'm very happy that officers have approached groups like ours to try to achieve that. "It's fantastic that the police force is trying to break down barriers, but to help them do it I need people to talk to me about what they think about the police, and what sort of things have traditionally dissuaded people from joining the force. "I firmly believe it's vitally important that the police force should be representative of the community it polices, and therefore this project is crucial." Mr Squire is looking for volunteers from ethnic communities in Coventry and Warwickshire to give their impression of the police so they can help police chiefs plan a campaign to attract a wide variety of recruits. He added: "Historically, people from ethnic communities have not wanted to join the police, but the police force is changing, and we are proud to try to help get that message across."
