The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards, or the 'Black Baftas' as they are better known, are the only international celebration of achievement within black cinema and TV in the UK. In only three years it has become an industry standard and anticipation is rising for the biggest star-studded night yet.

Josie D'Arby presents the awards and is joined by Bond star, Colin Salmon.
Yaphet Kotto, star of Live & Let Die and Alien, will be jetting in as special guest of honour to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award. Mona Hammond, star of EastEnders and the godmother of black British film & TV, is set to receive a special tribute.

But it's up to the public to choose their favourites in all the main categories, which are still wide open, before voting closes on Tuesday 3rd October. From the movies, Denzel Washington is nominated for International Male personality for Inside Man, but is up against Chris Bridges and Don Cheadle, both from hit flick Crash. Queen Latifah and Kimberley Elise go head to head in the female category while Crash and Get Rich or Die Tryin'
are both up for best film.

From our TV screens, Corrie's Ray Fearon takes on Chucky Venice of Footballers' Wives and Adrian Lester of Ghost Squad and Hustle as Favourite Male Star. Top female TV nominees include T4's Miquita Oliver and Trisha Goddard.

Sky TV is partnering the Screen Nation Film and Television Awards and will screen the award ceremony, for the very first time, on Sky Movies 2 at 10pm on Sunday October 22nd. The awards form part of Sky's Shades of Genius season, a month long celebration of Black culture, heritage and creativity.
