Jamilah Tangaza, debate host and Editor of the BBC Bureau in Abuja, will give listeners an opportunity to put questions to a special panel of guests which includes Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Governor of Kano and Auwalu Rafsanji from the anti-corruption agency, Transparency International. The programme will also bring the views of ordinary people from the streets and markets of Nigeria through BBC reporters dotted throughout the country. Jamilah said: “BBC Hausa feels it is crucial to interact with audiences on important events shaping their lives which is why we are binging discussions live from Nigeria. This debate will give audiences an opportunity to discuss whether they feel the census will improve or exacerbate some of the major issues facing Nigeria today and challenge those in power.” The debate, which repeats at 20.30 the same day, follows a week of special programming from BBC Hausa on the subject and can be heard on shortwave frequencies at 14.45 on 15105 SW, 17810 SW and 21640 SW and at 20.30 on 11855 SW, 15105 SW and 17885 SW. BBC Hausa programming can also be heard at 06.30 on 6155 SW, 7105 SW and 9610 SW. For further information contact: Isa Abba Adamu, Head of BBC Hausa, BBC World Service | +44(0)207557 2600
