A MAN bravely battled back when two men tried to steal his i-Pod. The 32-year-old victim was delivering leaflets in Sheepridge when the muggers confronted him on Woodhouse Hill, at its junction with Chestnut Street, at 1.10pm yesterday.

After asking for the time one man tried to grab the i-Pod music player from the man's neck.

His accomplice then punched the victim in the face, but he immediately fought back.

He kicked one of the robbers between the legs and punched the second in the face before running away. They chased him, but quickly gave up.

The victim suffered bruising to his cheek from the punch.

Both robbers are slim African- Caribbeans.

They wore black baseball caps with symbols on them, black hooded tops and scarves across their faces.

One is aged about 30 and is 6ft 3in tall. The second is slightly younger and just over 6ft.

Anyone who saw what happened or has any information should phone detectives at Kirklees CID on 01484 436685.
