I read an interesting article in the metro today by Andrew Williams called DUMB FROM DOWNLOADS about how the internet could be reshaping the way we read, think and absorb information.

The article is focused around the launch of a new book from Nicolas Carr called The Shallows: How the internet is changing the way we Read, Think and Remember. He suggests the internet is reducing our ability to think critically and to concentrate on specific tasks for sustained periods while encouraging a superficial, skimming approach to interpreting information.

I must admit, I tend to skim over information these days and do find it hard to stick to 1 topic without the need to check emails or open a new browser to look for something else...

But is it a bad thing, does anyone else think the internet is dumbing down and do you have examples?
