NEW MULTICULTURAL CHILDREN’S STORE MEETS GAP IN THE MARKET |

www.kidslikeme.co.uk is a new online multicultural children’s store that offers a comprehensive range of multicultural books and toys for children aged 0-12. Given the huge gap in the market, the company is set to become the largest retailer of multicultural toys and books in the UK. As our multicultural society grows, so does the need for children’s toys and books that reflect children of White, Black, Asian and Oriental origin. Most High Street retailers offer a limited range of culturally diverse toys and books, leaving many shoppers empty handed.
As Emmanuel Blackman, the Director of Kids Like Me comments ‘There is a serious lack of multicultural toys and books available at mainstream stores, which is failing customers, particularly people of non-European descent and ‘thinking’ parents. We felt that action needed to be taken to respond to the situation. Kids Like Me offers positive, inclusive and culturally diverse products that children of all backgrounds can enjoy’. The company’s ethos is to promote a culture of social inclusion, greater harmony, equality and mutual respect. For many parents, childcarers and teachers, the search for toys, books and even greetings cards that reflect children of colour can sometimes be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Kids Like Me endeavours to become a unique 'one-stop-shop' for multicultural children's toys and books. To celebrate the launch of the company, children are invited to enter a Story Writing Competition around the theme of ‘My Story, My World’. Winners will receive a special prize and will have their stories published on the website.
