Precious Online, the award winning Magazine and Network for women of colour, in partnership with Business Link for London and the British Library, is hosting the largest gathering of ethnic minority businesswomen during Enterprise Week at a one-day conference on 13 November at the British Library. The Joy of Networking is designed to strengthen core business skills in a much under-rated area: networking, a core skill that is critical to a wide range of other entrepreneurial qualities such as initiating collaborations and presenting pitches.

Most importantly, the conference provides a channel for women to meet other like-minded women and practice networking skills in a friendly and responsive environment.

The keynote speaker will be Gita Patel, Founder of Trapezia, the UK’s first Venture Capital group to concentrate on women focused businesses.

Foluke Akinlose, Founder of Precious Online said, “I am proud and excited that the Precious Online network is once again taking part in Enterprise Week. As a small business owner, I understand the critical role that networking plays in business. I can promise delegates that the day will deliver some key effective networking skills, lots of fun and massages!”

Saul Harris, Head of Marketing and Communications at Business Link for London said, “The value of networking is often overlooked as a legitimate marketing channel.  However, research shows that a referral generates 80% more results than a cold call - because people trust the source of the information.  Events such as this are a great opportunity to practice your networking skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Isabel Oswell, Head of Business Marketing at the British Library said: “It is a great honour to be partnering with Precious Online Magazine and Network to run this event.  We are sure the day will inspire and motivate budding entrepreneurs as well as deliver practical advice and guidance. As well as offering business insights from Gita Patel, this event will also introduce attendees to the British Library’s Business & IP Centre - a fantastic, free resource that includes up-to-date information on companies, markets and intellectual property.”

Tickets to the event cost £25; this includes lunch, refreshments, networking reception and a goody bag.
