With hard work and dedication a group of innovative young BME fashion leaders in the making, are presenting their first ever ‘Celebration of Young Fashion Designers’ showcase, at the Cockpit Theatre in North West London on Sunday 23rd April 2006
Since taking part in the prestigious Black Fashion Designers Network, (BFDN) Young Designer Awards; Gavin Douglas, Kelly-Jade Nicholls, Jermaine Wilson Christiana Gbadebo and Adebisi Adeyemi, have proven that they are the crème of the BME British fashion industry and are set to be future hot names on the international fashion stage.
UnLtd is supporting Celebration of Young Fashion Designers. UnLtd - the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, is a charitable organisation that supports and develops the role of social entrepreneurs as a force for positive change in the United Kingdom.
Gavin Douglas 2004 BFDN Avant-Garde winner and Kelly-Jade 2004 winner of the Tyler Media/Children Are the Future Youth Award, both showcased at 2005 Caribbean Fashion week in Jamaica to an audience of international Buyers, Fashion Editors, Press and Celebrities and shared the runway with such notable designers as Jessica Ogden, Catch a Fire by Cedella Marley and Meling.
Jermaine Wilson is the 2005 winner of the Tyler Media/Children Are the Future Youth Award, a very talented designer who has won an all expenses paid trip to début his collection in New York Fashion Week September 2006, as well as at 2006 Caribbean Fashion week. Jermaine‘s collection will be given the same close professional attention enjoyed by established designers who show their collection in New York each season, with a team of prominent fashion stylists and hair and make-up artists backstage and the same international models that walk the runway for the noted fashion houses such as Baby Phat, Calvin Klien, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger.
Christiana Gbadebo and Adebisi Adeyemi, winner of the 2004 and 2005 Barnardo’s / BFDN Young Designer Awards respectively début their artistic creations in this showcase.
