A TWELVE-YEAR-OLD girl was killed on a busy road after being hit by a bendy bus. Blessing Olayiwola died instantly after being struck in Peckham. Her devastated brother, Olayide, 17, told the South London Press: "I will always remember Blessing's smile.She was a funny,caring sister."


The tragedy happened in Peckham Rye at the junction with Nunhead Lane at around 7.15pm on Monday.
Blessing was hit by the No 12 bus,which runs between Oxford Street and Dulwich. The schoolgirl, of Linden Grove, Nunhead, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem was due to take place at Greenwich Mortuary.

The fifth of six children, Blessing was a pupil at Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technology College in Farmer's Road, Camberwell.

Olayide, who is an art and design student at Lewisham College, said: "Blessing loved reading, especially books by Jacqueline Wilson, and she enjoyed English lessons at school. "Blessing used to do a lot of sports and was good at running. "She always used to play fight with me."

A joint statement issued by Transport for London (TfL) and London Central, which runs the No 12 bus service, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the girl at this time. "As with any fatal incident, the police who attended the incident will conduct a full investigation. "The safety of our passengers is very much a top priority and TfL and the bus operator will be assisting the police with their investigation."
