MONTAGE THEATRE ARTS presents Free Drama Workshop celebrating Lewisham’s Black History Month With Judy Gordon, Artistic Director. Based on August Wilson’s, ‘The Piano Lesson’, a 5 day drama masterclass workshop with a script-in-hand reading on the Saturday to an invited audience at the Brockley Jack Theatre.

The play: The Piano Lesson earned August Wilson his second Pulitzer Prize following the success of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom in 1984. First performed in 1987, The Piano Lesson concerns the struggle of two siblings over a precious family heirloom, a piano carved with images of their African ancestors and crafted their enslaved grandfather.The workshop: A challenging workshop intended for those over 16 years, those welcome will have some experience or advanced skills in drama and performance as some line learning by participants will be expected.

The sharing: Saturday, 3pm at The Brockley Jack Theatre with script in hand. The audience will be invited from participants’ own family and friends and free!

When: 3rd – 7th October 2006, 12 – 5pm daily.
