Friday 22 October, 8pm Coinciding with Black History Month, mac Productions present a landmark play that brought South Africa's leading playwright, Athol Fugard, to the attention of international audiences. Two brothers, one black, one mixed race, dream of a better future, living on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth in the early 1060’s. Morris has walked into Zacharia’s life a year before and keeps house wile Zachahria earns the money.
In their shifting, abrasive relationship, Fugard examines family relationships strained by almost unendurable economic and political hardship, and reflects the wider racial issues of 1960s South Africa. Tickets £10/£7 Jacksons Lane 269a Archway Road Highgate Tube www.jacksonslane.org.uk |
