A 17 year old young man was fighting for his life in hospital this morning, after being shot in the neck shortly after arriving at a private party at a restaurant in Rusholme. The 17-year old boy was rushed to the Manchester Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as critical but stable after emergency treatment.

Trevon Thomas an Illegal immigrant  from Trinidad was jailed for 30 years yesterday for shooting a trainee policewoman including 15 years concurrent for possession of the firearm with intent to endanger life. He fired at Notts officer Rachael Bown in Lenton, notts in the early hours of February 14 as she and a colleague looked for a burglary suspect.

FOUR of six men arrested in connection with the shooting of a Birmingham man on his birthday have now been released on bail. Three of those released, aged between 19 and 27, were arrested on Tuesday in relation to the murder of Meshack Tesfa Bernard-Brown, 20, who died on November 13 in the Newtown area of Birmingham.

A GUNMAN has been told he will spend at least 30 years behind bars after shooting a man dead at the Notting Hill Carnival.ermaine Labastide, 27, of Bramah Green, Brixton, was one of three men jailed on Wednesday at the Old Bailey for the murder of Lee Subaran at the carnival in west London in 2004. Labastide and two other men denied murder but were convicted by a jury after hearing how they were part of the Mus Love Crew which opened fire on Mr Subaran because he had disrespected them.

Revd Beverley Theodore, a Barrister by profession, has recently been appointed as Development Manager at the Council of Black Led Churches (CBLC) in Birmingham.  Revd Theodore, former Chaplain at Yarl'swood Immigration Removal Centre said of the appointment: "I am looking forward to the opportunity of developing the strategic work of the CBLC.  I will endeavour to ensure that CBLC continues to be a positive influence within Black Led Churches, local communities, and Birmingham as a whole".

A joint meeting of the Labour Party National Executive Committee and ethnic minority Party members yesterday agreed on a timetable for the re-launch of Labour's Black Socialist Society (BSS). The BSS's objectives include; to work to achieve the support of and to recruit members of the party from Black, Asian and other Ethnic minorities and to work with other organisations to eliminate racism and discrimination in all its forms across the UK and worldwide.
