Police are appealing for information following two armed robberies in Huddersfield on Thursday, January 6, 2007.

The first happened at 7.20pm at an off licence on Leeds Road in Bradley when two men wearing balaclavas entered the shop and threatened staff with what's believed to be a black handgun.

Staff then activated the panic alarm and the robbers made off with a small amount of property. In this incident the man with the gun is described as white, age between mid-teens and 25, 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 8 tall, of thin build, wearing dark clothing with a hood and a woollen type mask with eye holes. He had a mobile phone around his neck on a cord.

The second man is described as a bit taller than the first man, chubby, of a similar age and again wearing a woollen type mask with eye holes.

A young man lay dying in a dark alleyway outside the Ravensthorpe bar, packed with 200 Christmas revellers. And a court heard that he was gunned down by a gang of Huddersfield men who had initially clashed with him in the bar. The men have gone on trial at Leeds Crown Court charged with the murder of 23-year-old Michael Hanley. Mr Hanley, of Harehills, Leeds, was one of the people enjoying the soul night at Sheridan's Bar in a former mill complex in Ravensthorpe in December 2005. He was asked to leave after club staff intervened when he and a group of men were involved in a scuffle.

ImageTHE NEW YEAR
A time for the new year, to ponder, reflect
On the tasks of last year did I bear some neglect?

Were my floors cleaned and scrubbed On which a diner could sup?
Did my life take direction, Was it down, was it up?

Can I look back and smile,
Feel I learned from the past?
Were the lessons I learned
The type that will last?

Did I give of myself without being asked,
For no personal gain, just rewards in my heart?
With those whom I met, did my soul see their needs?
Was I selfish or giving, could a true friendship start?

Could they see I meant best, did my close family know
That their growth and their acmes set my heart all aglow.

And when looking within at the mirror on the wall,
Can my soul still stand proud,
Did I give it my all?

Your New Years resolution

ImageThis is the time of time of year when many people decide to change their lives by making a new years resolution, some people will fall by the wayside and go back to their normal self within a few days mainly because they don’t make a full and personal commitment to its achievement,  so much so that they don't even tell anyone else about it almost as though they know that they wont stick to it   before they even start. If you intend on making one we suggest you tell someone as this will help you to stay committed even if only through fear of embarrassment. We  are encouraging all our members to publish their new years resolution in their about me section of their profile as  way of making the commitment to stick to it and to help and encourage other members to make and stick to their own resolutions.

Our resolution as a website  for 2007 is to encourage and promote cross community interaction and diversity

We would like to wish all our users and members a Happy and Prosperus New Year

What is a franchise?

A franchise is basicaly an agreement or license between two parties which gives a person or group of people (the franchisee) the rights to market a product or service using the trade mark of another business (the franchisor).

The franchisee has the rights to market a product or service using operating methods already proven by the franchisor. The franchisee is obligated to pay the franchisor certian fees and royalties in exchange for these rights.

Franchising – the Basics – how does it Work?

Certain outlets of Macdonalds and KFC are classic examples of succsessful franchises, in both instances the franchisee  has purchased the right to operate under a recognised Brand.

In a basic franchising arrangement the franchisor has developed a system for conducting business. The system has been found to be successful. The franchisor wishing to emulate the success of that business system, usually in a different geographic area, establishes a blueprint for others also wishing to emulate this success to operate the same business using the same name and same systems.
